Air Abrasion

Dr Lipworth was the first dentist in Australia to use the Kreativ air abrasion system.

A gentle stream of fine particles propelled by compressed air is used to remove decay and to prepare teeth for fillings. There is no noise or vibration, making the procedure extremely comfortable. In some cases, because of the extremely gentle nature of air abrasion, fillings can be done in perfect comfort without the use of anaesthesia.

Unfortunately, air abrasion cannot be used to remove old amalgam fillings. A conventional drill has to be used to remove the old filling, but we often then switch to air abrasion for the final preparation of the tooth for the new filling.
